Secular Institute Forum
A Secular Institute with a renewed Charism
in the heart of the World, Laity, Church
Welcome
Ecclesia Go !
I will thank you Lord among the peoples, among the nations I will praise you
Pope Francis 1 to the members of the Secular Institutes August 2016 'work for a renewed charism that unites the lay and consecrated aspects of your lives and mission'
Proposal: The creation of a renewed Secular Institute of consecrated laity strong and efficacious for the 21st century and beyond in the heart of the laity, the world and the Church; a Secular Institute with a well defined charism, having its own spirituality, organisation, theology - separate and independent.

My name is Diana May Cockburn. I am from Scotland GB and a member of the Catholic Church.
Secular Institute Forum is a website which presents to the members of the Secular Institutes and others the proposal to form a renewed Secular Institute.
In Part 1 of the website I explore the various problems and concerns of the current Secular Institutes and the questions relevant to the proposal for the formation of a united Secular Institute.
In Part 2 I give attention to the practical creation of a new united Secular Institute.

A strong Secular Institute composed of laity with a full consecration, having its own well defined charism, spirituality, and solid formation will counteract any tendency from those within the ecclesia or others who maintain that the vocation ‘consecration’ is ‘second class’ to other forms of consecrated life.
Today it is essential to create a renewed Secular Institute in the heart of the laity and world which will benefit both the members and the lay faithful.
Some advantages:
> an up to date Secular Institute orientated towards the contemporary world and Church
> a Secular Institute which will bring lay questions and concerns before the hierarchy of the Catholic Church
> a spirituality grounded in lay spirituality, specifically tailored to the lay state
> greater motivation and numerical advantage - a renewed Secular Institute will favour the presence of consecrated laity in extended geographical areas.
> the formation of a renewed Institute will lead to a new and greater insight into the particular spirituality, mission and theology of the laity.

Change
The process of creating a United Secular Institute will involve discernment and change.
This change will consist in the present Institutes leaving their actual organisations and separating from religious order spirituality, Movements or other significant figures in order to achieve the autonomy necessary to enable the formation of a new revised Secular Institute.
The Renewed Secular Institute with its consecrated members will draw on the teaching, theology and insights of Vatican 11 and on the experience gained over the years by the Secular Institutes. Solidarity with the laity will be a key concept as will be the role of the laity in both the Church and world.
I hope the proposals presented will lead to a dialogue between all those involved in the Secular Institutes and result in action towards the realisation of this project.

A Consideration - I believe that it is the Holy Spirit who is behind this proposal for the Secular Institutes, otherwise I would not be promoting it.
God's timing is always perfect and as these things are being said today there is a reason. It is therefore essential for the Secular Institute members to give time, and attention to the proposal to form an autonomous Secular Institute in the heart of the laity and world.
Behold I have set before you an open door which no one will be able to close Rev. 3:8
The Secular Institutes need a new vision !
Let us respond to the Lord, pass through the door and go forward !
